The first phase of the project "FROM THE PATIO TO THE WORLD"
The APS project "Transformation in the classrooms, culture of peace" carried out in the Villa Olímpica school in Barcelona has an audiovisual compilation that explains the different phases of the project and the methodologies that we have been working on.
We want to highlight the keys to success of the project that have been, on the one hand the high involvement of the school management that has pampered and cared for the project, also the fact that rethinking the playground was a real need that the school had and where had to influence. Finally, the 5th class groups that have been the main protagonists of this project and have made possible its extension to the whole school through surveys, circles, interviews and other actions that have greatly empowered the students, as they said "We really liked being the protas".
We also want to highlight a difficulty that has arisen in the project as it has been its dimension. Rethinking a patio is a very big project that requires the involvement of many agents and can collect many voices. For this reason the project will be developed in two school years.
And as in any project, we have challenges to be able to work, how to make the project sustainable in the school. Also as an entity, our challenge is to generate a methodology that can be reproduced in other schools, given that the playground is a great learning space that allows us to open very interesting levels of dialogue and reflection. From this reflective perspective is from where we rethink the name of the project PATIO AL MUNDO, because everything that the children observe and analyze in their patio are extrapolated facts to social problems and therefore we want from this starting point, open spaces for reflection and dialogue on issues of culture of peace.
